weld between a182 F316 (stainless) and a333 (carbon steel)

(OP)
I have a socket-weld gate made in a182 f316. at one face of the gate valve i have a line made in a182 f316 and at the other face a line made in carbon steel a333. It's possibile to weld this 2 different material or i have to buy a flanged valve?

Thank you

RE: weld between a182 F316 (stainless) and a333 (carbon steel)

You are asking for trouble here. dependent upon the fluid you could have very rapid corrosion failure.

You could consider a small stainless pup at the valve,  a flanged pair on the other end, one flange stainless, the other carbon steel with a suitable gasket.
