Suitable adhesive to bond wood to ABS
Suitable adhesive to bond wood to ABS
(OP)
I am trying to bond a layer of ABS ( smooth on one side, haircell or 'orange peel' on the other; can bond to either side ) to a flat piece of smooth pine wood. The bonded parts will not undergo great forces, but will need to last and withstand minor shear forces. ( I don't have quantitative estimates of what forces are involved )
I am going to try:
- some kind of epoxy
- silicon
- wood glue ( yikes! )
Am I crazy?
Any other ideas of what to try or specifics on those mentioned above?
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers,
DHD

One epoxy for the epoxy option.
B-45TH This is a 2 part flexible epoxy.

I'll add those to my experiments.

So far I've tried a gel epoxy, silicone, and wood glue.
The wood glue held up horribly. No surprise.
The epoxy held up to a moderate 'peeling' force, but somewhat gave way to vigorous peeling.
The silicone sealant has held up well to any kind of 'peeling' force I've tried.
Sorry for all the non-technical blabber there.

You might consider Gorilla Glue.
