Anyone know a good efficiency estimate for an electric duct heater coil.  The manufacturer says that they are almost 100% efficient.  Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: electric duct heater efficiency

Electric heaters are 100% efficient.  Granted, there might be some 'small' amount of wiring losses but I'd use 100%.

thanks

RE: electric duct heater efficiency

They will indeed by pretty much 100% eff. However, be sure to compare cost per BTU delivered, if this is any size of heater. In most locations, the cost per BTU for electric heating is FAR higher than other sources with lower eff.

Most of the time, the only places electric heaters make sense is if its a small and/or remote application.
