Will SW 2009 be compatible w/Catia?
Will SW 2009 be compatible w/Catia?
(OP)
Please help, I have heard that SW2009 will be able to open and read Catia V4andV5 Part and Product files.
My problem is I'm getting Catia V5 models and product files and I'm not able to open them and see all the notes and material types.
Does anyone know how I can see this information?
I have downloaded FormatWorks and can view the models but no notes or material type.

RE: Will SW 2009 be compatible w/Catia?
It is not mentioned in the SW09 What's New document. I'm sure there would have been much fanfare if it were true. That functionality has been requested for a long time.

It sounded to good to be true.
Any idea on the best way to open and read these files?
With out buying an expensive seat of Catia?

I see CATIA and SW eventually becoming more similar (which they are now) that they may merge together in the future.
Maybe.....
There are 3rd party applications that help with the cross-exports/imports of the two. A Google search will show them.

"Boeing provided its suppliers with a financial incentive to get
on board with Catia V5. "If you use the common Catia tool,
Boeing will provide you with the tool and the support for free,"
says Barsamian, who trains Boeing engineers to use the software."
I wonder if the first hint of any sort of compatibility will
be when SW announces it's porting to CAA? ;^)

Sure it's true. I saw it on the internet.
