Advice

(OP)
Hello everybody,
I would like an advice:
I'm going to buy the book: "Rules of thumb for chemical engineer" that looks very very interesting, I think it will be useful for me everyday...
If anyone has this book, could you tell me more about it?
Thanks a lot!

RE: Advice

You can download it for free. Look through the posts in the sirte. Someone posted the link some time ago

Ok, I'm a sucker for pretty girls (and it just happened to come across it) http://www.cheresources.com/exprules.shtml

Hey! Thank you so much!!!!! clown
But, sorry, I'm not English-spoken, I didn't understand your idiomatic sentence...But I just guess it clown
Anyway, thanks again,
Do you think it's not useful to buy the book??

RE: Advice

Not sure, I've never read it. But "experience based rules" in a book... sounds too much like the second year of thermo.
I'd start with the free stuff, and if I see it is helping but need a broader scope, then buy the book

It just looks...clown

RE: Advice

Very interesting, isn't it?
Grrr...I'm hesitating, a little bit expensive...It would be nice for example to have it as a present! clown
Why do my friends not think about these kind of presents???
Grrrrr...clown

RE: Advice

I guess depends on the 'friends' and if somebody gives them the idea.
Actually, I think it is the whole book but you cannot download it.
But there you go, take a deep look and see if it fits the bill.
From the little I read, it is geared a little more towards students. It would not cut it in my current world, but I'm O&G, nothing is ever as technologically advanced as to be simple.

Yes, it is why I think it could be useful for me...

I'm a process engineer, novice with just 3 months experience and I don't even understand technical English very well, as you see, I'm closer to students than professionnals...:o(
My poor boss...He is very kind but I do so much mistakes than I'm going to drive him crazy...clown

Are you from UK? I'm trying to improve my technical English to look for a job there one day...I heard they are very strong on chemical engineering and finding a job is easier than elsewhere...

I'm suffering now but maybe one day...

RE: Advice

Not UK, mexican living up north. In the warmth of Canada

RE: Advice

Just thought about this. You say you have little experience, make lots of mistakes, etc..... Be very careful when applying any rule of thumb. Sometimes they might be counterproductive, depending on the particularities of the process. ALWAYS use common sense ahead of any rule of thumb.

RE: Advice

I have a copy of this book and to be honest its more beneficial to purchase GPSA or get your hands on a copy of that because basically everything in this book is found in GPSA, which is much more thorough..

RE: Advice

Thank you for your advices guys!
Well, I will take care when using this book...
For GPSA, I found it in my company, so no need to purchase it.
Thanks again,
Méli :)
