Cooling outdoor swimming pool

Cooling outdoor swimming pool

(OP)
Dear all,

I have been tasked to estimate cooling capacity for cooling outdoor swimming pool water based on :
1)WxLxDepth=5mx24mx1.8m.
2) Desired Swimming pool temperature is within range of 26C-29C.
3)MAx Ambient air temperature is 46C, high RH.
4) Make-up water temperature 26C

Any advise/link/calculation example would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks muchly.

RE: Cooling outdoor swimming pool

Are you trying to cool the pool, or use the pool as a heat sink?

To cool the pool.

RE: Cooling outdoor swimming pool

Isn't the worst case basically htc of about 3 W/m^2-K applied across the entire surface area of the pool multiplied by the temperature difference, plus solar load?

RE: Cooling outdoor swimming pool

As IRstuff pointed out,you need to consider both radiant(Watt/m2 basis) and convection load based on Delta T(46-26).Make  sure you work out U  values based on local wind velocities.
