Sectioned isometric view in drwaing

Sectioned isometric view in drwaing

(OP)
Hi!
I would like to know how to make sectioned isometric view in drawing. I have an assembly. I created a sectioned isometric view and named it. When I try to insert this named view to my drawing file, it does not go as sectioned isometris but as full isometric. Any tip ?

RE: Sectioned isometric view in drwaing

I take it that you used the section view cut in the model to create your section cut.  That view section is just what it says..view.  What you need to do is create an actual cut in the part or assembly. You can then create a configuration called section cut or whatever.  In your main configuration the cut would be suppressed and in the section cofiguration it would be unsuppressed. In you drawing insert the std iso view.  Right-click in that view and go to properties.  Change it to look at the section configuration.

To add to BBJT reply, once you have done like he states. You can pick the face and Insert\Area Hatch. Doing this will put hatch marks on the surface of the model face for you (ONLY in the drawing stage).

I hope this helps,

Dear BBJT,
I tried , what you said, but whenever I try to make a derived component in order to cut the assembly, it says the derived component can be made for a part only. How to cut assembly. This not a mold but for a presentation.

RE: Sectioned isometric view in drwaing

You can create a sketch on a plane or a planer face of a part int he assembly.  You then go under th Insert, Assembly Feature, Cut  After you create the cut through the parts you can then right cleck on the cut in the feature manger tree and select [Feature Scaope].  You can select which parts that you want to cut through and which ones you don't.

Dear BBJT,
Thanks! I tried exactly as you said and it worked. But one small problem with it. Some parts in the assembly are cut on this side of the plane of sketch , whereas some other parts are cut on the other side of the sketch. How to set this right

RE: Sectioned isometric view in drwaing

I am not sure.  I have run into similar problems when using a single line for my assembly cut verses a complete rectangle or enclosed sketch.  What I normally will do for an assembly cut is look straight at the view where I want to make my cut.  I then create a rectangle that boxes in all the geometry that I want to remove.  I do my assembly cut with the end condition of through all.
