Simple dimension problem... hopefully!

Simple dimension problem... hopefully!

Simple dimension problem... hopefully!

(OP)
I just recently started working with SE and everything worked fine. I switched computers at work and I have my dimensioning settings set to ANSI(inch), but when I am actively dimensioning I have to put in my values in mm. After I enter in my value and hit 'confirm' it displays as inches on the part. Does anyone know how to change that so I can use inches as for my input values?

Thanks in advance!

RE: Simple dimension problem... hopefully!

I think it's in file properties somewhere, if it's the problem I think it is.

Change the file primary units to inches on whichever tab it is.

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of FAQ731-376: Eng-Tips.com Forum Policies recently, or taken a look at posting policies: http://eng-tips.com/market.cfm?

RE: Simple dimension problem... hopefully!

You have your default templates set to metric.

Do as KENAT explains:
File -> Properties -> Units tab.

But, unless you start using Inch templates, you will have to do that for every new part.  If you don't have the inch templates installed on your new computer (why aren't you using customized templates?), then just open the template, make the change per above, save the template, and you're done.  Every new part that uses that template will be set to inch units.

You are a life saver! I never knew something that simple could be that annoying. I just thought that once you changed all the properties that that would default to the chosen setting. Well... now I know!

THANK YOU BOTH!

RE: Simple dimension problem... hopefully!

The dimension style units are separate from the file property units.

Depending how you use the dimension styles it does make sense, kind of.
