civil 3D surface style question

civil 3D surface style question

civil 3D surface style question

(OP)
i have a drawing that was created in LDD 2007. now when i bring it into civil 3D, i do not see the surface styles, except for standard. then, i have to open up another drawing with the NCS LDT template and drag and drop the surface styles into my drawing in the toolspace window. is there a way/setting so that whenever i open up 2007 drawings, it will show me the surface styles of the NCS LDT template? i tried setting the default template in C3D to NCS LDT but didnt work. any suggestions appreciated.

RE: civil 3D surface style question

Try to make a .dwg from the template file (copy and rename from .dwt to .dwg) and insert it into the drawing (you can cancel at the 'Specify insertion point' prompt).
This works for C3D 2008 using a C3D template.

thanks lpseifert!! that was brilliant! is there a way to keep this setting forever? i mean, now when i save this drawing, it will always have the surface styles, but say, i bring in another LDD drawing, can C3D be customized that it will always show the styles in the new drawings? i mean, no need to insert anymore?
