List of environment variables

List of environment variables

List of environment variables

(OP)
Does anyone out there have a full list of environment variables for UG and their function? We are currently using NX3 & NX5. examples of these are NX_FORCE_CSD=1 (forces delete, transform, object display..etc to go right into class select).  I am just curious of other variables that could have some positive uses.

Thanks in advance.

RE: List of environment variables

That would be nice to see.  Some of them can be found in the help docs but I am sure there are many that are not common knowledge.

Here are some that I use
UGII_DRAFT_EXPRESSIONS_OK set this to 1 to have access to expressions while in drafting.

UGII_MONIKER = 1  When set to 1 makes Solid Edge file associative to NX. When the Solid Edge file is updated the "linked" body can be updated in NX.

UGII_ENABLE_CUTTER_SPIN = 1  makes the tool spin while in the tool path verify.  Looks cool but can slow things down.

Thank you 'joycejo' I will look in the help docs.  I am sure you are right about the fact that there are more out there!

RE: List of environment variables

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of environment variables, but there is NO 'official' list of what they are or what they do (and don't hold your breath).

The official ones are either contained the file titled 'ugii_env.dat' found in the UGII folder or can be found in the user Documentation or the release notes.  The 'unofficial' ones are more of a folklore issue.  Occasionally we will publish them, usually for some temporary situation, or else for some purely legacy support issue, which could still turn out to be temporary (although we tend to not make these temporary enough).

Anyway, if anyone wants to volunteer them, that's fine, but don't expect a documented list to be forthcoming because it's not a priority or even a desired situation.

RE: List of environment variables

hmmm,  the one about the cutter spinning, when i verify i only see a tool without flutes, so i can't see if its rotating, please enlighten me....

RE: List of environment variables

OK if you want to amaze your friends, retrieve a tool from the tool library.  I like to use UGTI0202_019 this is a 2 in. Indexable end mill.  When you select the Verify option set the Tool Display option to Assembly and you should see a fully modeled indexable end mill.  See theattached image.

Looks cool, but be aware it will slow things down!!
