Service Size Calculation

(OP)
Does any of you has any spreadsheet or calculator that you use for sizing distribution service based on the load present, such as receptacles, lights, heaters, HVAC, motors etc. etc.

I will appreciate it if you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hello Zazmat.

Below is a working spreadsheet or calculator that you use for sizing distribution service based on the load present, such as receptacles, lights, heaters, HVAC, motors etc. etc

Please have a check.

Bilegan,

Couple of questions. It seems like your spreadsheet doesn't allow for multiple quantities unless they are entered individually. Also, where are you accounting for different load factors in your calculations?
I didn't see the impact of changing load factor anywhere.

Thanks
zazmat

Q. It seems like your spreadsheet doesn't allow for multiple quantities unless they are entered individually.

A. Yes, the spreadsheet has no capability for multiple entries, you should enter them individually as the excel sheets was prepared for detailed load list.

Additional info., You can add tabs for additional tabulation load list for switchgears, Switchboards, MCC's, DP's and  panelboards as many as you like. The sheet 2 will serve as the basis for you to size main electrical equipments, i.e, transformer, generator, and or swithgear.

Q. Where are you accounting for different load factors in your calculations? I didn't see the impact of changing load factor anywhere.

A. The default load factor of the spreadsheet that I gave you was set to 1.0. As you will notice, the column I load ratings and column J load ratings are the same, try to play with the figure in column J, you will notice the changes of the load factor in column K.

Hope the above will help.

Bilegan,

Thanks for your quick response.
Regarding my second question, I agree with you that changing clumn J and K changes L, but my question was in regards to changes in L (load factor). I didn't see any effects of change in L on the loading.

Zazmat

RE: Service Size Calculation

zazmat,

The values on COLUMNS "I" and "J" is to be entered individually, depending on the type of your load. Values on COLUMN "K" which is the load factor will change if you entered different values on columns "I" and "J".

Based on your post, you are clicking wrong cells. Follow my instruction above. Take note, column "K" is formula.

The effect can be seen on consumed load (continuous, intermittent or standby).

Bilegan
