Oversize countersunk monel rivet?
Oversize countersunk monel rivet?
(OP)
I have a repair drawing calling for a NAS1200M-6P rivet (A solid 3/16 dia 100 degree flush shear head passivated monel rivet). The problem is the hole dia is currently 7/32 diameter and the repair doubler (0.063 Cres) is currently countersunk.
I need an oversize 7/32 dia 100 degree flush shear head passivated monel rivet. Let try a callout first, and then worry about availability if something exists.
I know I have a couple other options:
1. Oversize to 0.250 inches and knife edge the doubler. (or even re-make the doubler, which is already installed)
2. Oversize to 0.250 inches and install a countersink washer under a protruding head rivet.
3. I can not install a hi-lok because I do not have sufficient clearance for a collar or nut.

BACR15DS7M is an oversize shear head monel rivet. I suspect it may not be available, but it's worth a shot.
In the past, I've put put in protruding heads with a repair washer if there wasn't an interference or aerodynamic issue. Sounds like you are in a hot area using stainless steel.

Any chance you could go with a blind protruding head rivet or bolt?
RE: Oversize countersunk monel rivet?
drill hole to 0.250, countersink but do not knife edge (60%, 65%, 66%, 70% whatever you company goes with - don't want to start a dispute here - heck somebody is going to argue 2/3 not 66%)
install NAS1200M8 or even MS20247M8
shave head flush - thus the desperate part; not sure if it's practical or even possible with Monel.
