Weld symbol too big

Weld symbol too big

Weld symbol too big

(OP)
I'm not new to Solidworks. But I've never figure out that why the weld symbol is so big on drawings and I can't control it. And I've left the "Fix size of weld symbols" unchecked.
Can anybody help me? Thanks.

RE: Weld symbol too big

Tools->Options, Document Properties tab, Detailing category, Annotations Font item.  Select "Weld Symbol".  Reduce font size as desired.  Note that this change will only affect the open document.  Any previously created document weld symbol sizes will not change.  Unless you change your drawing template, any future drawings you create will still use the large size.

Thanks for the quick response. But I didn't say clearly. The above set up only change the text in the weld symbols, like 1/8, 1/4. The lines of the symbol doesn't change. Too long. How can I reduce the size of the hold symbol?

It depends on "dimensioning standard": Tool>Options>Document Property>Detailing. I always use ANSI. That why the lines in the weld symbol doesn't change. I tried both solidworks 2006 and 2008.
All other standard (ISO, GB...) are good.

Is it a bug? Or I'm missing something?

RE: Weld symbol too big

The weld symbol size is defined by the ANSI drawing standard.  Because the standard defines the size of the lines in the symbol, SW has decided they cannot be changed.
Before SW decided to follow the standards they used to be much smaller.  Now, whatever the standard says the size should be is what you get.  I asked SW when the change was made if there could be a way to overide that standard like you can with many other features.  Still waiting.
