NX4 hidden lines for overlapping drafting views

NX4 hidden lines for overlapping drafting views

NX4 hidden lines for overlapping drafting views

(OP)
In NX4, if you have two drafting views (containing solid geometry), and one is partially 'overlapping' the other, is there an 'automatic' method to declare which view is on top and the other view would show hidden for the overlapping portion? Without performing an unassociative view dependent edit? Thanks.

Change the "bottom" view's boundaries.

The user wants the portion of the 'bottom' view that is overlapped by the 'top' view to be shown with hidden or dashed lines..

Oh, sorry - misread the post.
No, I don't think that there is any way to automatically accomplish what you need.  As far as the drawing is concerned, neither view is on top or bottom.  This is something that may have to be solved in the model, not the drawing.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, that's kinda what I thought, but wanted to make sure. The user told me: "I can do this in ProE..."  sad

RE: NX4 hidden lines for overlapping drafting views

Man there are some things that I don't know why anyone would want much less expect, and this had to be one of them. The truth is that there is no precedent in pre-existing drafting standards for supporting any such thing.

You could however create a single view comprising both sets of geometry and have some of the components displayed with hidden lines and others without. This may achieve a more usual requirement that falls in line with ordinary drafting expectations.

Cheers
