FEMM solenoid question?

FEMM solenoid question?

FEMM solenoid question?

(OP)
Hi to all,
I'm new in FEA and magnetics. I read the forum pages and downloaded the FEMM software. I start with the tutorial on the web page and I have a question. When modeling solenoids the r=0 (in the tutorial, vertical axis which is the center axis of solenoid) is the boundary and magnetic field is 0, however in my case I want to measure max. magnetic field which is at the center. I understand that FEMM does 2D modeling and for solenoids axysymetry is used but  I want to measure the magnetic field in the middle of the solenoid (not inside but at a point on the r=0 axis)
Is there a way to measure it in FEMM or did I miss something?
PS If it is not clear I can send my FEMM file.
Thanks
Mike

RE: FEMM solenoid question?

Piece of cake.

Open the file tutorial.fem

Turn the crank.

Punch the sunglasses to veiw the output.

Push left arrow once so your axis is more in the middle of the screen.

Select the "line" icon.

Select three points on the axis: top, middle, bottom (***)
(they should be highlighted in red once selected).

Select Plot-X-Y (Plot type |B|).

Bam. You're in business.

*** If you selected points in order from bottom to top in that step, it won't work (you'll get 0).  The help files tell you why
