Vent locations
Vent locations
(OP)
I've already done some research but I can't find anything specific. I am looking for standards regarding steam vents. I have a relief valve with a discharge line about 35-ft in the air. I found a vague reference in OSHA regarding insulation and distance from personnel access but nothing specific about condensate dripping causing a problem or specific requirements on the vent. One reference says 45 degree cut, vertical, straight into the air. That's about all. Does anyone have any specific reference?

RE: Vent locations
Try Appendix II in ASME B31.1.
What is your task..?? are you designing/routing pipe?
If your steam system is of modest pressure (~100 psig)then a detailed stress anayis is not necessary, but if you are designing a vent for a higher pressure system, a detailed analysis, IMHO, is necessary.
Try posting in the piping forum....
