Back to the basics for me, How would you go about understanding the data plate on a 3 phase elect. motor I do understand Hz, Cont, but by looking at the plate with 6 wires how would you hookup wire up to a 3 wire source? thanks

That's going to depend on the type of motor (single-speed, two speed, etc).  A lot of standard motors have six leads brought out to allow connection at either 230 V or 460 V.

thanks for a quick reply, I will obtain info from elec.data plate motor and perhaps this exact info would help.
