Construction of Cast In-Situ Piles:

(OP)
My company is working on 9-span reinforeced/precast concrete brigde. The construction is to take place on swampy, marshy, silty-clay soil; a 20-30m depth cast
in-situ piles with shell is to be installed until it meet a refusal. The detailed engineering design of the piles has not be concluded by the project consultants, but its estimated that each pile is to carry a design load of 40tons.

As a pile engineer on site, I do not have much experience on construction of pile foundations/footings. Right now, I am required to start planning for the construction of the piles, their installations, pile caps, load testings and other post-constructions activities on piles before the piers can be erected.

I need a guide on how to manage the this aspect of the project espectially on the following :

1. Planning for the pile installations
2. Dialy site reports/ activities
3. Prescribed Load tests on cast in-situ
4. Technical report and presentations
5. General assessment & details that concerns the engr.
6. Appropriate Design tools (CAD) for engg design.

Thanks.

nurhforward, Gitto International.

RE: Construction of Cast In-Situ Piles:

Does your company or your local transportation authority have an appropriate structures manual?
Check first, or risk reinventing the wheel.
If not, I suggest you start by adapting some existing guidelines to your project.
Many state DOT's have what you need.

Florida has a lot of material on drilled shafts.
