We've possibly all have seen this error "Click OK To Terminate". I was wondering what is the MAIN cause and how do we eliminate it?? I've found this huge PITA to come up when I do not need it the most... Any suggestions????

RE: Click OK To Terminate

To increase the stability we get a clean cattemp and catsetting when we start catia. Actually company default catsetting are copied every time we start. Don't know how much that help but I noticed that the stability is better on machines with ecc ram, don't know if that is imaginary or if there is some bearing to it:)

Where would one find a procedure on getting a clean cattemp/catsetting?????

RE: Click OK To Terminate

Go into
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\DassaultSystemes
I create a CATSettings directory for each version.
In the user environment editor - change the CATSettings to this new folder (CATSettings18)
Start Catia and set your menus and hotkeys.  This is very important - do not migrate old settings to the new version.  You can do this, it will work most of the time, not recommended.
Once you have your Catia configured, exit Catia to save the settings, copy the CATSettings18 directory to create a backup.
That should take care of the settings.  Once and a while, replace the CATSettings18 directory with the backup.  Sometimes settings get corrupt.
As for the OK to terminate - 64bit machines is the answer.  I have found Catia instability at 75% ram use on 32bit machines.  This is on certified IBM Zpro stations with 4GB ram - 3GB switch.......
A new 64bit machine is cheap in comparison to downtime, reload, crash, stability....  all the factors that will frustrate an operator.

Derek

Correct me if I'm wrong.... but by deleting the CATSettings, everytime... won't that wipe out any custom icons or settings I've already got set??? Thanks

RE: Click OK To Terminate

you need to analyise the abend trace files in the cattemp location as OK to terminate is a generic error handler and does not give you the source of the error, where as the abend trace file does.

RE: Click OK To Terminate

Yes cleaning the CATSettings will wipe CATIA back to Default as far as your Toolbars and such go.

However what I would do is start with clean CATSettings and then customize it, then make a backup of that CATSettings and when you have to clean out the CATSettings just Copy/Paste the back up in the CATSettings.

RE: Click OK To Terminate

well, about CATSettings...

CATIA admin can setup  reference CATSettings in a shared folder.

CATIA users get ref CATSettings from admin in a local user folder. This are the CATSettings you clean (the local user folder)

Next time the user start CATIA, he will get CATSettings from admin (clean ones)

So you can define your own ENVIRONMENT (as admin) and clean users CATSettings whenever you want.

See online doc for more info about ENVIRONMENT...

I am sure you can find some document also on the internet.

RE: Click OK To Terminate

Here's just a few things that I have seen cause the dreaded "Click OK to Terminate":
- Corrupt CATSettings (CATIA was trying to write one while saving)
- Loading too much data (Memory Errors)
- Corrupt Drafting Standards XML file (I used a text editor rather than the CATIA Editor)
- Missing Drafting Standards XML file while creating a Drawing (I mistyped the CATCollectionStandards path in the Environment)
- Corrupt geometry in a CATPart (run CATDUA often)
- CATIA Bugs (submit a PMR)
- Random weird stuff

Note: these are in no particular order

Yeah... I think I may have tapped out memory on this new box.. I pulled in an engine, transmission, frame, hot end exhaust system and several fasteners... the box will still spin the assembly around like 'butter'... That's where I get the 'OK to Terminate', I go back into the settings and deactivate terminale mode and make it a visualization mode... this helps along with searching for planes and whatnot and hiding them.
