RE: Exporting for Solidworks
But about part formats i should say that each of this format has its own application, for exam: IGS format can export parts as surface, or STL used for Streio litography type file, Step & X*t,X*b used for export solid vulome this type generally used to FEA transforming.
RE: Exporting for Solidworks
Typically people export 3d models and not 2d line drawings from one cad program to another.
But I believe if you must then solidworks "should" be able to read dwg or dxf files which inventor can easily save out.
The rendered isometrics are another story though. they will probably need to be exported as images.
But again I wonder why you are doing this? A little insight into the reason to export a 2d drawing from 1 cad package to another and we might have better solutions.

Its also possible that you are not saving to dwg correctly.
Did you try opening it in autocad first?
RE: Exporting for Solidworks
Yes. SolidWorks can open and edit an AutoCAD drawing.
Have them try using DWGeditor.
