Method of feeding scrap melamine foam into a shredding disc

Method of feeding scrap melamine foam into a shredding disc

(OP)
I need to shred scrap pieces of melamine foam (strips and irregular shapes).  I have a grinding disc that will shred. Basically this is a wood disc with 1/2" wires sticking out of the disc face, the disc is motor driven.  The wires will "catch" the edge of the foam and rip a small piece off.   I need to figure a way to controlled feed the foam to the shredding disc without hving the foam get pulled out of the feeder,  by some means of pinch roller that will control the feeder output.

Low cost, small production, manual to a degree.

RE: Method of feeding scrap melamine foam into a shredding disc

Break it into small pieces first.

Rather than design a feed regulator, modify the shredder so it is self regulating. Make the teeth (wires) smaller and gear down the speed  so the shredder does not bog down.

For example a chain saw has regulating teeth that keep the cutting teeth from biting too deeply.
