Plate rolling - the LONG way
Plate rolling - the LONG way
(OP)
We are looking at CB&I "Vertical Plate Coke Drum" technology. It's basically the fabrication of a coke drum in the shop or in the field, but instead of rolling rings, they roll plates the "long way" to make vertical sections for the drum. I won't get into all the reasons why this is done. What I want to know is who, particularly in Europe, is able to ROLL or FORM plates the long way to make these sections. We heard Offenhauser used to do it in Houston with 25' wide roll, but we are still researching this.

CB&I have four offices in Europe. I presume that you have contacted them? http://www.cbi.com/about/worldwide.offices.aspx

FACCIN:
Thick plate but limited to 13' in the brochure. Evidently they have made larger machines.
Home office is in Italy.

Webb Corporation:
Up to 20'2" x 7/8" I assume a low yield material.

vesselfab: I checked with Offy, and they have a press brake that can simulate this, but only up to 1/2" think and 20' long (wide).
unclesyd: Good idea, we'll check into that.
Though we've not unconfirmed, if anyone is intersted we got these leads:
S and T International
Mauriceville, Tx.
Robertson Metal Fabricating
Houston, Tx.
Thanks...

Both are limited to 12' rolls. The articles regarding CB&I say they are doing 40' sections.
I talked to somebody that said the technique is to press brake the sections. Mentioned a company in Chattanooga called Austin Energy, but I can't find anything on the net about them.

Most of the companies mentioned by unclesyd have 40+ ft press brakes. TSPI has a 40 footer and AmTank a 50 footer. Hodgson may?? also have 40 ft press brakes. Stars for unclesyd.
Also try Dillinger Hütte GTS and see if they can form the 40 ft plate sections for you.

RE: Plate rolling - the LONG way
According to the print brochure, they have a unit that can press 12.25 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 60 mm thick.
Thanks to all who assisted.
