1997 NDS vs. 2005 NDS
1997 NDS vs. 2005 NDS
(OP)
Did they change the way they specify nails. In the 1997 NDS they refer to four different types of nails, with different tables for Z:
(1) Common Wire Spike
(2) Box Nail
(3) Common Wire Nail
(4) Threaded Steel Nail
Now in the 2005 NDS, there is only one table for Z, with only three types of nails
(1)Common Wire Nail
(2) Box Nail
(3) Sinker Nail
Several questions, what happened to the old Threaded Steel Nail,
what is the new Sinker Nail.
Also, in the 1997 NDS, a 16d Common Wire Spike Nail had a diameter of 0.207 and length = 3.5 in. What is the equilvalent in the 2005 NDS.

RE: 1997 NDS vs. 2005 NDS
You can still use other types of nails, they just aren't included in the NDS tables. Also if I remember correctly the nail values shown in the 2005 NDS should agree with the 1997 NDS. So you should be able to use the 97 tables.
