Change of server

Change of server

Change of server

(OP)
Hello,

I have a new question: We are serveral stations working with one server. This server is mapped as a T:. The server is almost full, so we need to replace it with a new one with higher capacity. How to do it? I have been asking and it looks like that, just copying everything to the new one, and naming this new one as a T: would be enough. (All the projects and libraries in the manage library are pointing to the T:)
Do you foresee any problem about doing it?

Thanks for your help and regards

RE: Change of server

Is the "T:" drive physically fully or is the logical drive full?  If the logical drive is full and there are other logical drives that are not full you may be able to redistribute your storage space.

Doing what you said should be fine, if you license server is on the same server you will have to get a new license too.  if you name the new server the same as the one you are replacing no changes need to be done on workstations.

Hello
The T: is physically full.
I think that redistribution the storage space is not usefull. The distribution of the space is done throught the libraries, so even if I redirect the new ones to a new disk, If the old ones are the ones more used then the disk will be fulled anyway.

Last thursday we made a copy of the whole old server at night and on friday morning we tried to work with the new one. But the copy was not done 100% correctly, some of the files that were hiddden in the old server were not in the new one. We tried to reconnect one machine to the new server and we succeed, but it was going very slow, so we are still working with the old one and checking if some other files have to be redirectioned (for isntance, licenses, etc...)
This week we have to try again

Thanks for your help
