What is the diference between the Motor Differential Pressure Switch and Partial dischanrge detector?

RE: Motor Differential Pressure Switch

Thats like saying whats the difference between an apple and a unicorn.  One is an apple and the other doesn't exist

RE: Motor Differential Pressure Switch

Well put, GT. It could also be an apple on an orange tree and a unicorn.

RE: Motor Differential Pressure Switch

One measures differential pressure between two points. The other measures PD activity in solid insulation.

What a weird question. Have you heard of Google? I've included a link to it so you don't have to search for it in, erm, Google. lol

HamidEle,
Methinks you are not a native English speaker and something has been lost in translation.

Do you perhaps mean the difference between Motor Differential Current Protection and Partial Discharge Detection? They are at least both about detecting faults in motor circuits, albeit in completely different ways and at different instances.

In motor circuits, Differential Current Protection is a way of identifying a fault in a motor circuit very quickly WHILE IT IS RUNNING, whereas PD Detection is a way of finding a problem in the insulation, typically the motor windings in this case, when it is OFF-LINE.

RE: Motor Differential Pressure Switch

It's common practice on large grinding mill motors to have a differential pressure switch across the air filter (usually a Dwyer Photohelic) but I don't have an explanation for the "Partial Discharge Detector"

RE: Motor Differential Pressure Switch

That would be a filter differential pressure switch, but I get your point.

Still, the differences between the two are so great that I agree with previous posters that something must be lost in translation.
