3-d solids to wireframe

3-d solids to wireframe

(OP)
We work in fisheries/fish passage projects and frequently we need to model certain structures which would be much easier to do in a 3d solid. But this eliminates the possibilities of cutting sections through a combination of 2d polylines (contours) and 3d solids. We are interested in finding out if there is a method of converting 3d solids to wireframe lines with elevations which we could then use the civil tools to cut sections.
Thanks for any thoughts on this.

RE: 3-d solids to wireframe

We use Acad 2008 with Carlson Civil Design 2008--the 3s solids we have tried were straight out of that.
We have inquired about Acad Civil and was told it would not work either. We have wondered whether Solidworks was a possible option here.
Thanks
