Looking for simulated carbon fiber tubing

Looking for simulated carbon fiber tubing

Looking for simulated carbon fiber tubing

(OP)
Last year while looking for carbon fiber tubing sources, I ran across a web site that listed fiberglass or Kevlar materials dyed to look like carbon fiber. I have a current need for this material if still available and have burned several hours trying to locate this site again. Wish I'd bookmarked it, but wasn't interested at the time...

This is for a motorcycle shift linkage, where the currently used carbon fiber tube is just cosmetic. Our source has just raised their price 4x. Given the trends in aerospace for ever increasing consumption and that we don't need the strength, we would love to find a source for tubing with a fabric layup appearance in a .500 ID that looks like real carbon fiber.

Would sure appreciate it if anyone here knows of a source or two, US manufacture preferred.

Thank you,

Jon Anderson

What you are looking for is a film or decal type of material that is printed with the carbon fiber patern. I've seen this used on many products, including cell phones. I've seen some advertising but I don't recall company names.

Thank you for the quick reply. We don't want to use the printed decal material. Unless the company has gone out of business in the past 8-10 months, there is somebody selling a fiberglass cloth dyed to look like carbon fiber, and I'm pretty sure they had tube as well.

I should have bookmarked it regardless my lack of interest at the time. It it frustrating that I found it once, but cannot seem to come up with the search string now, that found it in the first place....

Fibre Glast has the raw materials, both silver and black glass fabric.
