shell element buckling
shell element buckling
(OP)
Hello,
I have a column which consists of two parts,
I need to calculate a critical force applied in the center of the cross section.
Is it possible to apply a concentrated force there, and how proportionally transfer that force onto the edges of the column?
PS: see attached file
Thank you, and best regards!

RE: shell element buckling
my advice is to create a reference node at center of the section at the same z-coordinate of the nodes that are highlithed in the photo that you attached (let the z-axis be the axis of the column). Then link the edge nodes highlighted to this node through a kinematic coupling. Finally apply force, moment or displacemnts to the reference node. In this way the loads will be apply directly to the edge.
