Fluidized Bed Boiler

Fluidized Bed Boiler

Fluidized Bed Boiler

(OP)
Hi,

I recently started a big project on fluidized bed boilers and am new to boiler design and have been doing much research on how it works and every aspect of a boiler in general. I am stuck on where to start with a prototype design. What basis as in do I start doing calculations based off of off the shelf parts and size up the boiler from there?

The boiler prototype (just to get hands on knowledge and experience with operating and making one) is going to be small (roughly 100hp). I have bought some books that help with the calculations and give a better understanding of it. Does anyone have any advice for a beginner in boiler design? Thanks for any help/advice.

RE: Fluidized Bed Boiler

CB....

You do realize that you are a "newbie" trying to make a large technology jump into an advanced field ???

A fluidized bed boiler is custom designed to consume a specific fuel and meet a specific emmisions limit. A "generic" design, suitable for any service, does not exist

I suggest that you start understanding the subtlties of boiler construction with the purchase of "Steam" (by Babcock & Wilcox) and try to download and understand any papers that you can "GOOGLE" from Foster-Wheeler.

Do you have enough budget to visit some real life fluidized bed boiler plants?
