SA-285 Gr. C & SA-106 Gr. B, ASME 1971 edition

(OP)
Hi,

We are searching for the Maximum Allowable Stress Value (S) of the ASME Section VIII div. 1, 1971 edition or equivalent of the SA-285 Gr. C and the SA-106 Gr. B at 650F.

Can you give us the original values of these material specifications to be able to do minimum thicknesses UG-27/UG-37/UG-45 calculations?

Appreciate your help,

hcjulien

Divide the Minimum Specified Tensile Strength by 4.

RE: SA-285 Gr. C & SA-106 Gr. B, ASME 1971 edition

Here  are the values from 1965 edition. I don't think they were changed between 1965 and 1971. I believe these numbers will get you in the ballpark.

SA-285 Gr C @ 650F 13,750

SA-105 Gr B (II) @ 650F 17,500
SA-105 is listed as a forging type I or II.

106-b was 15,000 psi @ 650F I believe

hcjulien and vesselfab,

My mistake.

You are correct about SA 106 Gr B being 15,000.  That is what I first wrote and for some unknown reason changed it SA-105 without rereading the OP.
