(OP)
Hi Guys

I am designing some frame structures to support some big signs next to the HWY.

The frame is a 2D structure, supported by 2 posts, and I would like to see is there any deflection requirements of these posts (any code?). The result I have is approx. H/100, and I accpected this result because I feel that there is no one care/notice the post deflection exceed the limit when they are driving 100Km/h speed.

Your opinion?

Thanks.

RE: Sign post deflection

No one will be driving 100 km/hr when the wind is blowing that hard.  With signs, strength controls.

RE: Sign post deflection

I have designed many large signs in the US to 1 in 100 and have had no complaints.

RE: Sign post deflection

Just out of curiosity... how does one build a 2D structure?  In my world they were all at least 3D.

RE: Sign post deflection

"... how does one build a 2D structure?"

We're designers, not builders, not our problem.
