Starter Solenoid Current Rating

Starter Solenoid Current Rating

Starter Solenoid Current Rating

(OP)
I have a need for a intermittent duty, DC contactor. Voltage will be low, but current is relatively high (500A),

What is the DC Current rating of an average starter solenoid? These devices are not typically supplied with data sheets, just an applicable vehicle model name.

Any leads would be great, Thanks.

RE: Starter Solenoid Current Rating

100-150 amps, roughly.

It is very dependent on all sorts of details.

RE: Starter Solenoid Current Rating

My first thought is a contactor from an electric fork lift. I'm not sure what the current rating is, but the batteries are 36, 48, 72 or 80 Vdc and the drive motors are 15-30hp.
