Simulate Wiring
Simulate Wiring
(OP)
Hi All
I'm new to the forum.
I do not have the electrical package and am curious if I can :
1) Simulate a wire in the ASSEMBLY mode of SE. I can't seem to catch on how I can sketch and sweep when it appears the sweep only works in the part mode and I'm in the ASSEMBLY mode
2) Is there a way to dynamically show the XYZ as the cursor is moving?
Items 1 and 2 I can do at work with CATIA but as I dabble in the mechanical world with some home projects, I'm stumped making the above items work.
BTW, I'm an EE trying to think in 3D...and its a stretch for me :)
Thanks in advance
Jay

RE: Simulate Wiring
Define the path in the assembly.
Create a part file that has a sketch of a circle of the appropriate diameter for the wire, and use this for the frame section.
On the frame properties et the corner treatment to 'Apply Radius'.
I've used the Frames command to do tubing when I haven't had access to XpressRoute.
They all seem to work in a similar way.
Another way is to use Assembly Features, but to create a sweep you will have to make the assembly a weldment.
Go to Applications > Weldment Assembly and check the box.
Then create sketches for the path and cross-section.
Personally I would use the frames.
