Re use of plans

Re use of plans

Re use of plans

(OP)
I have designed a pressure treated wood foundation for a house for a client. He now wants to use the drawings to build 20 more houses using the same plans. My fee was $500 for the initial structural drawings. The houses are all to be built in the same subdivision. What do you think would be a reasonable fee for each of the projects.

RE: Re use of plans

1/2 your original fee, but in any case check with your insurance provider!

Cheers,

and the original fee for any prototype changes

RE: Re use of plans

For a PWF foundation, your initial fee of $500 seems pretty low... You might check around and see what the normal cost for this work would be.

$250 for engineered PWF plans seems to be very low.

RE: Re use of plans

I agree with 50% - but $500 for the initial job seems low....

RE: Re use of plans

If he didn't provide the drafting, and the house is small and regular in plan, I don't see $500.00 (before taxes and expenses) as wholly unreasonable.  That said, I do not know the US market...

I would think a small residential job would have been a few hours to design and an additional one half to check.  Add in an hour for client liason and checking the drawing, I' call it a four hour job.

But you're all quite right; It's unlikely that the job was this straight forward...  I'd like to hear a responce from the OP!

Cheers,

YS
