Typical Overhead Line Spacing

Typical Overhead Line Spacing

Typical Overhead Line Spacing

(OP)
Hello All. I am looking for a table (or someones best idea) of typical spacing for bare overhead lines at various voltages. I am looking for the following voltages.

4.16 kV
7.2 kV
13.8 kV
34.5 kV
46 kV
69 kV
115 kV
230 kV
345 kV

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

RE: Typical Overhead Line Spacing

Probably the best place to start would be a copy of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).  IEEE publishes it, and I believe the most current version is 2007...

RE: Typical Overhead Line Spacing

Yes, they are typically spaced, otherwise nasty things happen.  What that spacing might be depends on many, many different factors.  We have 115kV lines with spacings as low as under 8 feet to as much as 16 or 18 feet.  Typical, that I couldn't tell you.

Try the line construction references in FAQ238-1287: What are good references for a Power Engineer?.

RE: Typical Overhead Line Spacing

Google "Percy Thomas Formula"

RE: Typical Overhead Line Spacing

burnt2x, I copied your text into Google and ran a search - got lots about Thomas the Tank Engine and his friend Percy; doubt that's what you intended.  Can you provide a link or a more refined search criteria?

RE: Typical Overhead Line Spacing

I assume those dimensions are in meters since it shows U instead of V.  Correct?

RE: Typical Overhead Line Spacing

Correct
