Contour Lines

Contour Lines

Contour Lines

(OP)
I'm using Civil 3D 2009, I was wondering if there is a way to convert a polyline into a contour line.  I can do this in Land Desktop, where I'll assign an elevation to the polyline and then digitize the polyline to a contour line.  Is there a way to do this in 2009?

RE: Contour Lines

Is this for a plan view or a profile view?

Plan view.

RE: Contour Lines

In ACAD R14 to current version, contours are drawn with polylines, however, you have to invoke the PEDIT command and its FIT option to smooth out the polyline.  The polylines can be made of any line type.

I was looking for a way to digitize them that way I can go back and annotate them with their elevations all at once like I can in Land Desktop.  I understand the polyline to contours was just wondering if i could convert the polylines or "digitize" them and then label them.

thank you

RE: Contour Lines

when you refer to "digitizing" are you working with a digitizing tablet or is the term to infer a contour value?

RE: Contour Lines

Create a surface with your contour lines as breaklines.
