Under AWS D14.4, if a welder tests on a joint combining group 1 and group 3 materials, is he qualified to weld G1 to G1 and G3 to G3 as well?  7.18.1 just states that he needs to be qualified to weld each group.

RE: D14.4 Welder Qualification

Mr168,

I don't know if I can be of any help, one thing to say is I don't know AWS D14.4, but I do know S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 Welding Procedure Qualification Requirements. Which is all related in some way. I'll assume G1 is a Grouping of base material? Typically welding different grouping would be qualified as dissimilar metal welds. Does AWS D14.4 have any cross qualification tables of different groupings?
