draft a surface?

draft a surface?

draft a surface?

(OP)
is it possible to draft a surface in catia? (i know about drafting solids). so far i've been creating my surface, adding thickness (turning it into a solid), drafting it, then extracting the surfaces. there has to be an easier way....

anyone?

thanks

RE: draft a surface?

Have you looked at Sweep with draft direction?

RE: draft a surface?

(OP)
no actually, i haven't. i'll have a quick look now. thanks.

RE: draft a surface?

have you tried the GSD???? Create a an extrusion of a single line, 'cutting' the part where you wish to create your parting line... then exit GSD and go back to part design and draft, using the newly extruded 'line' as the neutural element... This works for me when I model a casting..

RE: draft a surface?

Hi mikemoran4 there is a real issue on this topic I've been trying to draft an cuted solid myself and the results were pretty strange to me to ass well as to the other responders to your post. The thing is what you can try is right click on the draft tree, in work viev, properties, filets...
Drafting surfaces, 3D lines, splines, planes, surfaces cut solids is really tricky in Catia.
