distribution - technological changes

(OP)
Some years ago, I saw an interesting time graph showing how computer memories have evolved through the years.  That got me interested in looking into a history on practices and equipment involved with distribution systems.

With the retirements of lots of experience in the power industry, there are fewer experts to ask on this topic, but maybe this group can help.  I'm trying to look back at a number of changes in technology over the past 50 years or so and identify roughly when they occurred.

For example, I know transformers went from 55 C insulation to 55/65 and then to 65 C insulation.  I'm thinking the change occurred in the early 60's.  Is that about right?

I know the push to underground distribution occurred in the early 60's and we saw our first padmount transformers at that time.

When did we switch from copper to aluminum for overhead wire?  1950's?

I realize that a lot of these will be company-specific, but I'm just trying to get a sense of when particular changes occurred.  While I'm with a North American utility, I suspect some of the trends will not be tied to North American.

Any key changes that you can think of would be of interest.
