(OP)
I am trying to figure out what would be the best way to measure flow in an open channel along a coast line. I have searched ultrasonic flow meters and I believe that they will work. However, They are quite expensive and I am not sure that my funding will back it. Is there any other way to measure flow in a channel?

Thanks

RE: ocean channel flow

Rubber ducks, 300 ft tape and stopwatch.  Stick a rod down for channel cross-section.

And get an intern to help so you don't have to buy a whole bunch of ducks...
