Convert Entities / On Edge Conflicting Model References

(OP)
Fairly often when I have a model edge I want to pull into a 3DSketch using the Convert Entities feature, on closing the sketch I receive the following warning message:

"The sketch has not been updated because it contains conflicting model references which are due to the topological changes in the model. Please edit the sketch."

What I have found that occasionally fixes the problem in the sketch is switching the endpoint coincidents. It appears that SW is flipping entity endpoints when it creates the new sketch geometry. Drawing the sketch entities manually and creating the constraints appears to sidestep this problem, but is extremely time-consuming and forget trying to do it with a spline.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to keep this from happenening?

I noticed this issue the first day I upgraded to 2008 Premium SP3.1
