Reactive power regulation.

Reactive power regulation.

Reactive power regulation.

Dear All.
Could you please help with some very strange for me issue.
1. Three winding transformer 150MVA, 110/10.5/11.5kV.
2. Two generators are connected to the windings
Generators are different size and different companies.
3. On bus of one of the generators is installed station Aux trafo (SAT)11.5/10.5kV.trafo for SC limit.
4. OLTC on the HV side of step-up trafo.
5. Reactive power regulation provided by OLTC.
in the two modes, with generators and w/o ( in this case standard regulation according to U of aux bus). In case of generators, regulation is according to the U-I of HV side of step-up transformer.
Now, need provide settings for regulator ( REG-D Eberle).
We are confused, from what start, what is connection between settings of OLTC and between stability curves ( aren't same)of generators?
What you can recommend in this case.
Best Regards.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Reactive power regulation.

Have you tried making an inifite bus model with the generators modeled as an inifite bus and an impedance, and the transformer high side modeled as an inifite bus and an impedance. As you change the transformer ratio (moving the LTC) you will see the vars change.

Usually vars flow down hill, or high voltage to low voltage. Because of the differences in voltage, use PU values to show the flow and reduce confusion.

Thanks a lot Cranky.
