to determine cable weights

(OP)
hi
We are routing cables by creating polyline using points, then sweeping the profile through this polyline using rib command. Is there any option so that we can determine the weight of these cables routed. We can get the weight of the cable from supplier in terms of weight per meter.Do anyone know of how we can use this data in catia so that it can compute and determine the weight automatically and if possible centre of gravity also?

thank you very much in advacne

RE: to determine cable weights

If your cable is a solid, you can use the apply material button to assign material properties to the solid part body.  Then the measure inertia tool will tell you weight and has an option (under create geometry) to create the center of gravity point).

Hi,

Your answer is here http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=227657&page=1

In any case, if you will change the geometrical data of the cables, don't forget to update your measure inertia results, no matter what method you are using (macro or applying material catalog or a combined method).

Fernando
