Switch from NX3 to NX5

Switch from NX3 to NX5

Switch from NX3 to NX5

(OP)
NX 5.0.5.3 MP1

Hey guys,
We just switched from NX3 to NX5 and I'm missing some options:

1. For the coordinate input there was a reset button in nx3 to set all the values back to zero. Is there something similar in nx5?

2. I miss the option plane with 3 points in for example the trim function. Did I overlook something or do we got rid of this option?

Thx in advance for your help.

RE: Switch from NX3 to NX5

Forgot to add that I don't have an answer for question #2 since I don't ever use that method....sorry.

RE: Switch from NX3 to NX5

As for #2, when you're in the Trim Body command, after selecting the body, with the 'Tool Option' set to 'New Plane', just pick your 3 points and hit OK.

RE: Switch from NX3 to NX5

tryitagain,

For some of the plane functions as compared with what you're used to with earlier versions on NX in NX-5 you do seem to need to dig for what you're looking for. Old timers like you and I may find it inconvenient and it has come up before.

RE: Switch from NX3 to NX5

Too true.

It is the two lines option that I was thinking of!

RE: Switch from NX3 to NX5

Sorry again Hudson, but all you have to do is JUST PICK TWO LINES!  Granted, in the case of TWO LINES, unlike THREE POINTS, there are multiple valid solutions which you will have to 'Cycle' thru the Alternate Solutions until you get the result that you desire.

RE: Switch from NX3 to NX5

This has been discussed previously. Sour grapes maybe, but the third option should be the first!

RE: Switch from NX3 to NX5

At least in NX 6.0.2.2, the so-called 'preferred' result now comes up first.

Cheers John, I guess the glass is about the right size after all.
