So Inventor can save stl but not open it? :|   

Has anyone got a good site to download an stl importer? Are there free version, or even trial versions availible? Recommended sites would be great!

Actually, I think i require a VRML importer/exporter. I need to convert complex cad data into something simple for plant layout.

Not sure what you are after now, but free Hoops ACIS Viewer will also open stl files.

i need to have data that is as light weight as a .dwf, inside an inventor .asm
