I am just an intern at the moment so please don't get frustrated with my newbie question i am in serious need. i'm trying to design a spring clip to hold a placard in place, however either my design or the metal i am using is causing the metal to become weak over a short period of time. i am in need of a resource to a valid chart indicating minimum bend radius of T-301 stainless steel, .025 thick, 1/2 hard. a simple link would be of great help now and in the future with other metal issues.. thanks

RE: T-301 Stainless Steel Spring Clip minimum bend radius

ASTM A 666 lists minimum radius (called bend factor) as 2T for thickness less than 0.050 inches and included bend angle equal to 180 degrees.

Is there an online site in which i can view this along with other metals..

RE: T-301 Stainless Steel Spring Clip minimum bend radius

If you are working with temper rolled SS strip then you need to own a copy of ASTM A666.  I bet that there is one around your shop.  If not, or if it is old then tell your boss that you need to buy it.  You can buy single copies from ASTM.

srl691,

What you want is typically contained in handbooks or in publications specific to the spring industry.  Either way you would need to purchase something, and it won't be freely available on the internet.  At least not in one simple, convenient table on one website.

What would the bend factor be for T-301 thickness of 0.6mm?
