Model culvert with piers in HEC-RAS

Model culvert with piers in HEC-RAS

I am analyzing a proposed culvert reinforcement solution.  There is a large CMP arch pipe (7.5'x11.5') that was installed with too much fill on top of it.  The proposed solution includes adding support columns in the middle of the culvert and I am charged with analyzing the effect of the culverts on the flow carrying capacity.  HEC-RAS won't allow piers to be used with a culvert, any other thoughts on how to accurately model this?  Thanks!

Oops, I meant analyzing the effect of the PIERS on the flow carrying capacity.

RE: Model culvert with piers in HEC-RAS

You may be able to model this as a "bridge" with piers.  But be careful. Flexible pipe, such as CMP, should not be "reinforced in this way foe structural reasons.

good luck
