Hi,

When the current transformer is label 1200/5:
1. Is that means primary current that not exceed 1200A, the transformer will operate in linear region?
2.If the primary current more than 1200A, then the transformer operate in saturation region?

RE: Meaning of CT 1200/5

You have to know the "rating factor" to know maximum continuous current. RF = multiple of rated current (ratio) that the CT can handle continuously without overheating. It's based on a given ambient, for instance in the US, it's generally based on a 30C average ambient over a 24 hr period.

RF also defines the upper limit of the metering accuracy class.
