What is the minimum footing depth for the horizontal distance from bottom leading edge of footing to daylight of slope?
When was the last time you drove down the highway without seeing a commercial truck hauling goods?

For example, in our area, mean frost depth is about 26 inches over recent history (20 years plus). Footings are generally set at 42" due to variability of frost depth. This is for heated buildings. For unheated structures you should go a bit deeper (perhaps 6").

St. Louis is 30'' while only 100 miles away it is like 18''
but the climates are just not that different.
