24VDC Auto Transfer Switch

24VDC Auto Transfer Switch

(OP)
Hello,
I am looking for a 24VDC Auto Transfer switch to switch between two 24 volt battery banks inside a vehicle.  When the main battery bank/supply either shutdowns from an open circuit or looses so much charge the other battery bank should maintain the system.

RE: 24VDC Auto Transfer Switch

Hi.
1. Im sure it's standard solution, but of course very expencive.
2. You can use simple diode bridge.
3. You can buid it with simple relay with two CO contacts.
Best Regards.

Look up the term "battery isolator".

RE: 24VDC Auto Transfer Switch

It depends on the purpose. If you want to drain one battery before connecting the other you may have to build your own. This should not be difficult.
If it is acceptable for both batteries to discharge together, use diodes.
For charging check the battery isolatotrs.
Look for information from motorhome and camper forums. Twin batteries are common in these applications.
